Professor Andrew Morris FRSE

ANDREW MORRIS is the Professor of Diabetic Medicine and Head of Planning and Development in the College of Medicine Dentistry and Nursing at the University of Dundee. He leads a translational research team that focuses on the epidemiological and molecular aetiological basis of diabetes and its complications. He also has a major interest in how managed clinical networks can improve patient care across geographical boundaries.

Professor Kerin O'Dea AO, BSc, PhD

In 2006 Professor Kerin O'Dea AO was appointed as a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne (Department of Medicine, St Vincent's Hospital) and the Baker Heart Research Institute. Prior to this (2000-2005) she was Director of the Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin, NT.

Dr Peter O'Leary

Peter O'Leary is Director of the Office of Population Health Genomics in the West Australian Department of Health, a Clinical Biochemist and Adjunct Professor of Public Health. Dr. O'Leary and his team are responsible for evaluating genetic technologies and developing genetic health policy through clinical, community and academic networks.

Sandra Slatter

'Helping cancer survivors get back on track'.

Sandra Slatter is an author, writer, cancer survivor, and an advocate for those surviving cancer.
 
Prior to her cancer diagnosis of Mantle Cell Lymphoma in 2003 and subsequent stem cell transplant in 2004  Sandra ran a successful business specialising in economic, business  and community development.  She was awarded the Centenary Medal for her contribution to small business in rural and regional Victoria.

Professor Boyd Swinburn

Boyd Swinburn is Professor of Population Health and Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Obesity Prevention at Deakin University in Melbourne. He trained as a specialist endocrinologist in Auckland and his research career began with metabolic and clinical at the National Institutes of Health in Phoenix, Arizona and at the University of Auckland.

Professor Robert JS Thomas

Robert Thomas is a Melbourne academic surgeon with a special interest in Oncology. He was based originally at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, then became the Foundation Professor of Surgery at the Western Hospital . In 2000 he was appointed Director of Surgical Oncology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He was instrumental in the development of Surgical Oncology in Australasia and was responsible for the creation of the Surgical Oncology Group within the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He was the first Chair of this group. He has been a member of the Awards Assembly of the General Motors Cancer Research Foundation.

Norman Swan MBChB, FRCP, MD (Hon), DCH (RCP&S Eng)

Host of the Health Report, on ABC Radio National, Dr Norman Swan has won numerous awards for his journalism and broadcasting, including three Walkley Awards, one of which was Australia's most prestigious award for journalism, the Gold Walkley. He has also won Australia's leading award for science journalism, the Michael Daly Award twice. Norman was the third recipient ever of the medal of the Australian Academy of Science, has a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and an honorary MD from the University of Sydney.
